MEET THE MARYLAND HOME & GARDEN + CRAFT SHOW CELEBRITIES BRIAN AND MIKA KLEINSCHMIDT
Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt are clever, creative—and competitive. As the hosts of HGTV’s 100 Day Dream Home, the husband-and-wife team help clients create their perfect house from the ground up in less than three months. And as the winners of the Barbie Dream House Challenge and Season 2 of Rock the Block, they're known as HGTV’s winningest couple.

On October 17 and 18, Brian and Mika will be known to YOU! They’ll be on the Main Stage at the Maryland Fall Home & Garden + Craft Show, where they’ll share stories and inspiration about the design, building, and decorating process. Don’t miss their great ideas and good humor: Friday, October 17 at 4 pm and Saturday, October 18 at Noon—in the Cow Palace at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium.
Want to know a little more about Brian and Mika before the show? They were gracious in answering a few “let’s get acquainted” questions:
What's your favorite HGTV series?
We've been so lucky to work on many HGTV projects over the years but our favorite was the Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge. It was larger than life and it allowed our creativity to run wild and think outside of the (toy) box. It was also a lot of fun to collaborate with so many other HGTV talent.
What do you think is the best home purchase for under $100?
A smart thermostat will pay for itself very quickly. Not only is it smart for the environment but it's also smart for your wallet.

What is one project you tell people to NOT do as DIY?
Anything dealing with electrical, plumbing or HVAC should be done by a licensed professional. Just because you watch a YouTube video doesn't mean you should attempt it.
What is a good tip for big outdoor impact in landscaping or curb appeal?
Uplighting landscaping can make a massive impact on your nighttime curb appeal. People mainly think of daytime curb appeal and forget all about when the sun goes down. When it's dark it's time for your house to shine!
What is an outdated home trend you hope doesn't come back?
While it's fun to look back and “reflect” (get it?) on past design trends, we hope we never see mirrored walls make a comeback.

What’s the most important interior design advice you offer?
Do whatever makes YOU happy, not what is trending or popular.
What do you enjoy most about being at a home and garden show?
We love staying on the cutting edge of what's new and exciting, and home shows are one of the best ways to do that. We also really enjoy meeting and greeting all of our loyal fans that have been so good to us throughout the years.
